Discover Taroudant, the “Grandmother of Marrakech”, and the enchanting Tiout oasis on a relaxed full-day trip from Agadir. Authentic souks, ancient ramparts, and a palm grove straight out of a storybook — without the crowds.
Just over an hour from Agadir, Taroudant is surrounded by 7 km of magnificent 16th-century ramparts. Inside, two authentic souks sell Berber jewelry, spices, leather, and carpets at prices far better than Marrakech — because locals actually shop here.
Twenty minutes further lies Tiout, a lush palm oasis at the foot of the Anti-Atlas mountains, crowned by an old kasbah. Walk (or ride a donkey) through the palm groves along ancient irrigation channels, and enjoy lunch at the kasbah restaurant overlooking thousands of palms.
This is the authentic Morocco: no tourist crowds, real souks, genuine Berber villages, and landscapes that have not changed in centuries.
